I left Kaohsiung on the morning Jan 18 and took the train north. Before I said goodbye to all my friends and went on the journey, I deleted most of my Apps on my iPhone — almost several hundreds.
“Are you going crazy?!” One of my friends asked me, as he saw my screen almost empty. “Not at all,” I replied quietly, “I just want to have a better trip experience.” I stopped for a while and then added, “I spent too much time on my iPhone; it was never necessary.”
On my journey, I only used basic Apps. I also began to miss some that I had deleted.
It would be the only one if recommended; I used it almost every hour. Having little sense of direction, I never get lost thanks to the help of Google Maps.
I use Wechat to connect with my friends and family. Going to a new place, I took some pictures and sent them my mother to show that I was having a great time. I also wechatted with my friends on the way. Besides, although lots of my friends record their everyday life on WeChat friend circle, I seldom do it.
I deleted Chrome, so I used Safari as web browser to check for plans and order hostels. I also used it for fun such as browsing kinds of communities.
Weibo helped me record everyday life. I seldom use WeChat friend circle because I added too much people including whom I did not know about or had little connection with. Since there were fewer friends on Weibo, I could express myself more freely.
I used it to check what I should buy before going back. For instance, cosmetic for my friends, tea for my grandfather, watch for my cousin, scarf for my father, ect. I also used it to record my everyday inspirations and ideas.
Needless to say, I checked mails and sent some everyday.
I really wanted to share those great pictures on my journey with my friends!
I went to buy clothes but met a headache to match properly, then I missed all the best pins I made about fashion.
Foursquare and Swarm are my favorite Apps. I wanted to check in using Swarm when I went to a new place, however I deleted them!
Moves is an App that automatically records any walking, cycling, and running one do. I wanted to use it for recording my everyday journey!
I used to use Twitter everyday, but when I gave it up, everything went on quite fine and normal.
I thought I would missed Medium for those great articles, but I never. I went back to my Kindle.
I bought it for some money, but found it not necessary. Basic notes in iPhone was already enough for some writing.
